Let California Kids Hear Supporters,
We want to take a moment to reconnect and bring you up to speed with some important new developments in the effort to provide access to hearing aids to California’s children.
We are happy to share that the Hearing Aid Coverage for Children Program is moving forward, and the state of California is taking steps to support deaf and hard of hearing children.
July 1st, 2021 the state will roll out the Hearing Aid Coverage for Children Program (HACCP). The new program will cover hearing aids, bone conduction hearing aids and related services for children under age 18, whose families have a household income of up to 600 percent of the federal poverty level and who are not otherwise eligible for Medi-Cal/ CCS.
The initial rollout of the program will use a paper application process and will be followed by the launch of an online application portal in September.
The Department of Health Care Services explains here how to participate: https://www.dhcs.ca.gov/services/Pages/HACCP.aspx.
Additionally you can contact the Hearing Aid Coverage for Children Program (HACCP at 1-833-956-2878, M-F 8am-7pm and Sat. 8am-12pm.
We want to thank all of you for your support and patience during this process. While this is a solution for many of our families, we know there is more work to be done in the months and years ahead to Let California Kids Hear. #letcakidshear
