Let California Kids Hear (LCKH) announces initiative and launches website in an effort to garner support for upcoming legislation to mandate health plans cover pediatric hearing aids.
Only one in ten kids have hearing aids covered by their private health plan in California. These plans consider hearing aids for deaf and hard of hearing children ‘elective’. Twenty-three states mandate hearing aid coverage in the nation, yet California is not one of them.
In the new year, Assemblyman Richard Bloom will re-reintroduce a bill that would require health plans to cover hearing aids and hearing aid services for minors.
LCKH is grateful to Michael Hanttula of Spark3 Interactive for generously donating his time and talent to build a custom website to advance our mission to secure access to pediatric hearing aids for deaf and hard of hearing children.
